Dr David Skulina PhD

David is a skilled technologist, innovator and entrepreneur with a strong track record in developing and launching interactive software and hardware products in music technology, accessibility and education. He is experienced in all aspects of running a startup, intellectual property, fundraising, financial planning, operations, hiring, supplier management, quality assurance, compliance and documentation.

At Playable, David leads projects across music technology, AI, computer vision, sensor design, audio and electronics. He is proficient in Swift, Objective-C, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Max/MSP and Matlab. With a PhD in Musical Acoustics and a first-class honours degree in Physics with Music from the University of Edinburgh, he combines technical and creative skills in his work.

David is passionate about creating engaging, inclusive experiences that mix the digital and physical worlds. Outside work he enjoys time with his family, cycling and mountain biking, playing guitar, cooking and baking, gardening, and anything to do with tinkering, he can often be found building and restoring guitars, musical instruments, vintage bicycles and tandems.
